Whaler Games is one of the studios whose cool games SayGames publishes.
They are a small team of 10 people, working since mid-2020. They love a systematic approach and actively use analytics for decision-making. They minimize bureaucracy but try to maintain form and pace. They have broad expertise in games, love to work, achieve results, and have fun. The atmosphere is genuinely friendly, as cliché as it may sound.
Games
They are currently fully focused on the gaming experience of Pirate Raid (iOS, Android) – an action game with RPG elements. The project is in operation: it has live and happy players – the team wants to increase their number and satisfaction.

Whaler Games Studio is expanding the team and looking for an active and responsible Game Designer with experience in Action Arcade/Midcore mobile projects.
Responsibilities
- Improve and create engaging gaming experiences.
- Accompany features from problem/goal to implementation, analysis, and player evaluation.
- Write/improve/update design documentation.
- Regularly review builds, perform gameplay acceptance, and write structured feedback.
- Work in Unity (configure features/configs/test gameplay/accept features).
- Calculate, implement, and tune balance - with a focus on gaming experience.
- Describe visual components: static, dynamic (UI and feature layouts).
- Reverse engineer competitors' games.
- Use analytics to evaluate the quality of gaming experience and disprove own hypotheses.
Requirements
- Deep understanding of principles for creating explosive gameplay in mobile action/midcore games
- Virtuoso ability to convey thoughts through text, speech, layouts, schemes, etc. to any addressee in a short time
- Technical mindset (tables, numbers, formulas - YES and without fainting)
- Ability to work within the given framework of project problems, avoiding unmotivated creativity
- Epic+ self-learning skill
- Extensive play experience in similar genre games: mobile, action, midcore
- Confident use of Spreadsheets
- Knowledge of probability theory and mathematics at school+ level
- High and proven mobile game reverse-engineering skills
- Understanding of UI/UX basics
- Basic Unity skills
- Understanding of monetization
- Self-organization skills
Would be an advantage
- 1+ years of experience as a game designer in the genre/subgenre
- Technical education
- Pet projects with good game design
- Broad gamer outlook
